The "El Cocuy National Natural Park" is located within the 59 Protected Areas of Colombia in Colombia. It is located to the northeast of the Cordillera Oriental between the departments of Arauca, Boyacá and Casanare, it has an area of 306,000 hectares. On the western side, the Park begins at 4,000 meters above sea level, passing the maximum crest of the mountain range at 5,330 meters. a.s.l., ending at 600 m a.s.l.  On the western side of the Protected Area is the Sierra Nevada, which represents 3% of the Park, with approximately 9,180 hectares. This sector consists of 25 snow-capped peaks between 4,800 and 5,330 meters above sea level.

 

This cool trekking experience wil take you around the park for three cool days full of nature, wild animals and the most amazing flowers in Colombiat: The Frailejon.

    DAY 1:
    07:00 a.m. Arrival of the group in the municipality of Güicán de la Sierra Boyacá, typical breakfast of the region.
    9:00 a.m. Departure by 4x4 truck to Posada Sierra Nevada, entrance to "Peñon de los Muertos". A little history of the indigenous Uw'a race. Local snack, acclimatization hike to Laguna San Pablín, return to Posada Sierra Nevada.

    DAY 2.
    5:30 a.m. Local breakfast. 06:00 a.m. Departure for the edge of the "Ritaku'wa Blanco" glacier, approximate travel time of 8 to 9 hours.

    DAY 3.
    5:00 a.m. Breakfast at Posada Sierra Nevada.
    5:30 am Transfer by 4X4 truck to "Hacienda La Esperanza".
    6:00 am. Departure along the "Laguna Grande de la Sierra" trail, passing through the Cuchumba cave, the Frailejones Valley, the Cueva de los Hombres and the edge of "El Concavo Glacier". Approximate travel time 9 to 10 hours. Transfer to the Guicán de la Sierra municipality.
    6:30 pm. Accommodation at the hotel 7:00 pm. Arrival at the hot springs.
            DAY 4:
    7:00 am. Municipality of Güicán breakfast.
    8:00 am. Return to their cities of origin.
